Great Athlete's Part 4

Michael Sangiorgi

Michael Sangiorgi- Mike has never been known for his baseball/softball skills.  However, he has always been known as a great athlete.  From the time Mike was a young kid that was starting on the Wyckoff traveling hoops team we knew he was a great athlete.  However, coach Toal repeatedly questioned his physicality and toughness.  Coach would say things like, "hey Mike, put a P on your head and I ain't going to tell ya what that stands for".  "Hey Mike you betta take your tough guy pills!"  "Hey Mike you betta get a little stronger and start lifting some soup cans".  As Mike grew older all of this hard work and torture began to pay off.  He became a force to be reckoned with in the paint and even began to throw elbows even though coach said he did not even know how to throw an elbow.  He also guided the Jr. raiders to a perfect 33-0 as the starting quarterback.  When he went on to Ramapo he continued his excellence on the court and on the field earning his spot as a Marist football player.  At ramapo he was a Second Team All-NBIL Division I selection, and an All-League quarterback in high school  As I stated earlier Mike was never known for his softball skills but things are starting to change.  He is currently batting a team high .875 and has been a gem on the mound.  All Doolies are pleased with his performance up to his point and they are really starting to count on him at the plate.  With Pezzementi questionable at this point for the next few weeks with a potential serious injury to his non throwing thumb the Doolies may have to lean on SanGiorgi more and more.  COP-A-FEEL!  Congrats on your accomplishments and stay humble because we DON'T need another Willy on this team...one is just perfect!(Willy being perfect!) hmmmm.....coincidance?

Please share other fond memories if Mike in the comments section.

  2. As the cow said to the farmer in the morning... thank you for the warm hands, and kind words.

True fact I have the Gold Medal for the the NBIL Freshmen 400m and I should have a 400 4X4 Gold Medal but Mel was injuried by another Doolie and placed on DL for the race, causing our team to go with Andy Chin and finish with the Bronze.

  3. i meant to bring this up earlier today but during the game i heard the third base coach say "we care about saving lives more than we care about winning softball games." In no way do i disagree with this man at all because life is the most valuable thing on this earth but i felt this shows how much passion we have been playing the game with and now other teams are starting to take notice! r we hungry for a title this year?! fuck yea we are! and we are more focused than ever!
